We are delighted to announce that Daz Ahmed has signed a professional contract with Gloucestershire CCC for the 2025 Metro Bank One Day Cup, becoming the 15th graduate of the South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA) men’s programme through a partnership with the MCC and their Young Cricketers programme

A Product of the SACA South West Programme

Daz has been a regular part of the SACA South West programme, where over two winters he trained alongside the Gloucestershire senior squad. His presence, work ethic, and progression caught the attention of coaching staff early on, and he quickly became known for his ability to contribute in all three facets of the game.

His pathway has been a great example of the power of prolonged visibility and sustained high-performance environments, particularly within a county’s existing structure.

Al-round Contributions on the Field

As an allrounder, Daz has played an important role in the SACA men’s squad. Most notably, he scored a match-winning 72 not out against Essex 1st XI in Abu Dhabi during our 2025 pre-season tour — a composed, high-quality innings against a full-strength County attack.

Over the past 12 months, he’s continued to develop with both SACA and the MCC Young Cricketers programme, where he impressed his 1st 2nd XI hundred against Yorkshire in June this year.

With the ball Daz has put on pace over the winter programme through the support of the SACA and Gloucestershire coaches - he has regularly bowled 1st change for SACA but recently turned himself into an opening bowling option with both SACA and Gloucestershire 2nd XI where his new found zip off the wicket came to fruition.

Gloucestershire Sees the Value

Daz has signed with Gloucestershire CCC for the 2025 Metro Bank One Day Cup and is expected to add depth to the squad with his all-round ability and versatility across formats.

This marks a significant moment not only for Daz, but for the growing relationship between

SACA and the MCC Young Cricketers programme, which we hope will continue to offer further pathways for players with potential.

A Word from SACA

“Daz has improved massively since joining and has worked incredibly hard for this opportunity. His performances have shown he’s ready for the next level. We’re pleased that our partnership with MCC has supported his development and look forward to seeing him make his mark at Gloucestershire.”— Dr. Tom Brown, Founder & MD, South Asian Cricket Academy

Looking Ahead

We’re excited to see Daz join the professional ranks at a club that has worked closely with SACA over the past few years. His progress reflects the success of more regionalised development models, providing access and opportunity for players who may otherwise go unnoticed.

Congratulations, Daz — you’ve earned every bit of this. We’ll be supporting you all the way.
