SACA COACH AADIL ALI JOINS LEICESTERSHIRE CCC COACHING TEAM

We are delighted to announce that SACA Coach, Aadil Ali has been appointed by Leicestershire County Cricket Club to join their coaching group.

He will work with the Foxes squad alongside Alfonso Thomas and the rest of the Leicestershire coaching team throughout the 2026 season.

Prior to taking up a career in coaching, Leicester born Ali, now 31, graduated through the Leicestershire Academy and signed professional terms with the Club at the end of the 2014 season.

Following a playing career with his home county that spanned five years, in which Ali made 56 appearances for the Grace Road side across all formats, he joined SACA as one of the Academy’s initial cohort of players in 2022, playing the entirety of SACA’s inaugural season.

In 2023 he became SACA Captain, leading the Academy with distinction, before moving into the SACA coaching ranks in 2024.

Ali will combine his new role with Leicestershire with continuing to work with SACA, working with the Foxes’ First Team squad for all home matches across the season, but returning to his role with SACA when Leicestershire are on the road.

Speaking of Ali joining Leicestershire as First Team Assistant Coach, SACA Founder and Managing Director, Tom Brown, commented:

“We are delighted that Dilly has been offered this role by Leicestershire to work closely with Alfonso and the rest of the coaching group at Grace Road – providing him with opportunities to broaden his experience in a First-Class environment and work with the Leicestershire professional squad.

“We are also thrilled that whilst he will be teaming up with Leicestershire for all their home matches this season, he remains available to us as a coach with SACA whenever Leicestershire travel to away matches.

“Dilly is an exceptional coach who absolutely loves what he does, and he loves his home county of Leicestershire – so for him to be able to combine both of those passions in this role is a dream come true for him and is something that I know he will relish.

“We wish Dilly every success this season and our thanks go to all at Leicestershire for working closely with us on getting this deal in place. The agreement we have reached for Dilly to work both with the Foxes and SACA in 2026 works really well for all parties involved.”

Aadil Ali himself added:

Having come through the system here at Leicestershire, it’s a privilege to be working with the club I grew up supporting.

“Being born and bred in Leicester, I’m even more grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to get stuck in.”
