KENT v SACA - T20 MATCH REPORT (13 April 2026)

RESULT: SACA WON BY 3 RUNS (DLS METHOD)

After two red-ball clashes last week against Gloucestershire and Surrey to get the 2026 campaign underway, it was into the first white-ball action of the season today for SACA, as they took on Kent in a T20 clash at Polo Farm in Canterbury.

The day began with SACA skipper Shaariq Sheikh winning the toss and inserting the opposition, and in only the second over of the day Waqas Khan struck with his very first ball to remove Corey Flintoff, son of Freddie, for a golden duck.

The SACA bowlers were unable to add to this early breakthrough however, as the Kent top order went on the attack, adding 124 runs for the second wicket before Sheikh finally broke the partnership, clean bowling opener Dawkins for 54 with the Kent score on 137 for 2 in the 15th over.

Three overs later Saif Ali Ghauri struck to remove Singh for 9, with Kent on 160 for 3, with Curtis out soon after for 5, with Ajay Khunti picking up the wicket.

Whilst wickets were falling around him, Kent’s number three Harry Finch had remained firm, and he brought up an excellent hundred off the penultimate ball of the innings, finishing unbeaten on 100* from 67 balls, as Kent posted 183 for 4 in their 20 overs.

In reply, SACA’s openers Feroze Khushi and Daniyal Khan started well, keeping the run rate up, although as rain began to fall, Khushi sent the last ball of the power play to the man at deep backward square, departing for 21 off 16 balls, with 45 runs on the board.

Seven overs into the SACA reply, at a little after 1pm, the rain worsened, and with the chase going well with SACA on 57 for 1 and Khan on 33* from 25 balls, the umpires were left with little choice but to take the players off the field.

After a two-hour delay, with the rain showing no sign of letting up, the umpires called the game, and with the DLS required target sitting at 55, SACA were just ahead of the rate and declared the winners, securing their first win of the season in the process.

A second T20 which was scheduled to follow the opening game also fell fowl to the weather with no play possible.
