Battle of the Podcasts
Three Teams. Three Media Rivals. One Champion.
The SACA Men’s Squad features around 70 of the most exciting emerging cricketers from across the country. Ahead of the SACA Remitly Festival, those players will enter a live draft, where three competing media outlets will each build their own squad of 14 players.
Acting as team owners, the three media outlets will be responsible for selecting their players, shaping their squads and competing against one another for bragging rights.
The draft will take place live from Lord’s Cricket Ground on Thursday 30 July at 6pm and will be streamed on the SACA YouTube channel. Viewers will be able to follow every selection, debate the biggest picks and choose which team they will support throughout the tournament.
Once the squads have been selected, the three teams will compete in a round-robin competition, with it reaching its conclusion at the SACA Remitly Festival, where the Eliminator and Grand Final will be played in front of the festival crowd.

Yas Rana
Yas Rana is a respected cricket journalist, broadcaster and commentator, best known for his time as Wisden’s Head of Content. Since leaving Wisden earlier this year, he has become a prominent freelance voice and a regular contributor to The Final Word podcast. Now in charge of his own team, Yas will be looking to remind his former colleagues that, while they may have inherited his old seat, they have not necessarily inherited his winning formula.

Cam Ponsonby
Cam Ponsonby is an award-winning freelance cricket journalist and broadcaster whose work has featured across The Guardian, BBC Sport, ESPNcricinfo and The Athletic.
However, with Cam now taking over from Yas as the lead host of the Wisden Cricket Weekly podcast, he will be determined to prove that he is Wisden’s new main man.

Nick Friend
Nick Friend is an award-winning cricket journalist and broadcaster who joined The Cricketer from CNN Sport ahead of the 2019 World Cup and has become one of the publication’s leading long-form writers across the men’s and women’s domestic game. Taking over from George Dobell, who led The Cricketer’s team last year, Nick will be determined to build on his predecessor’s success and prove that a new manager can take the team all the way.
