· RESULT: SACA WON BY 4 WICKETS
Following consecutive red-ball victories over first-class county opponents over the last two weeks, SACA secured another hugely impressive win today against a strong and experienced Glamorgan T20 side that featured players with just short of 400 first-team appearances for their county between them.
Glamorgan regulars, including the likes of Will Smale, Dan Douthwaite, Alex Horton and Eddie Byrom proved no match for SACA on a day that largely belonged to SACA opener Gennaro Reddy, who having scored runs for SACA’s newly formed Second Eleven this week, earned a step up to the SACA First Eleven for his debut today. The match-winning innings he hit will live long in the memories of anyone fortunate enough to have witnessed it at Pontarddulais Cricket Club this afternoon.
SACA started the afternoon by winning the toss and electing to bowl, however an impressive knock from Horton, who showed all his class when hitting 110 from 50 deliveries, set SACA a massive chase in reply, as support from Smale (34 from 33) and Callum Nicholls (33 from 15) helped Glamorgan to a huge total of 206 for 6 in their 20 overs.

SACA’s reply got off to a blistering start however, and if making his SACA First Eleven debut was giving Reddy any cause for nerves, he certainly wasn’t showing it, as he blasted his way to fifty off just 15 balls, with six deliveries despatched over the rope, with SACA posting 89 runs in the six opening powerplay overs!
Reddy was far from done yet however, as he went on to hit a maiden hundred, on debut, with his three figures coming up off just 42 deliveries, in an innings that included eleven maximums and six boundaries.
The 44th ball of his innings brought his downfall, although not before he’d set up the SACA win, falling for 109, scored off just 44 balls, as SACA got to their victory target with eleven balls of their chase to spare.
SACA have been on a hot streak in recent weeks, with both the First Eleven and Second Eleven now securing victories in their last three respective fixtures, and they’ll be hoping for more of the same this coming week, when SACA sides take on both Essex and Middlesex at Billericay CC and Merchant Taylors’ School respectively from tomorrow.
