MATCH ONE RESULT: WORCESTERSHIRE WON BY 58 RUNS
MATCH TWO RESULT: WORCESTERSHIRE WON BY 6 WICKETS
Up against a strong Worcestershire side today, SACA were on the wrong end of two results, as the first-class county used their experience to come away from Leamington Cricket Club with back-to-back victories.
Playing a key part in Worcestershire’s success over the two games were the seasoned heads of Brett D’Oliveira, Jake Libby and Gareth Roderick, each with roughly 11,000 runs to their names for Worcestershire, although there was some poetry in the fact that the most influential knock of the day came from former SACA man, Kashif Ali, now plying his trade with the Pears, who smashed a match winning 88 in game one to set his side up for victory.
GAME ONE MATCH REPORT
Batting first, Worcestershire’s openers put on 50 for the first wicket in no time at all, to set the foundation for those that followed to go hard. Isaac Mohammed’s 33 and Brett D’Oliveira’s 37 got them off to the perfect start, before they handed over to Ali to do what SACA know only too well he is capable of.
A fine knock of 88, scored off just 48 deliveries, included 5 maximums and 8 fours, as he and Roderick (48 off 22 balls) sent the ball to all parts.
Their endeavours took their toll on the SACA bowlers, who picked up four wickets at some cost, with the wickets shared among the bowlers, with Manraj Johal (1 for 44), Eesa Nadeem 91 for 46), Thilan Walallawita (1 for 41) and Mian (1 for 25) tking the wickets, as Worcestershire posted 248 for 4 in their 20 overs.
Needing almost 12.5 runs per over in reply, SACA’s batters had little option but to go hard from ball one, and with Gennaro Reddy (42 off 21) and Feroze Khushi (32 off 25) putting on a quickfire 60 for the first wicket in just 4.5 overs, their chase couldn’t have started better.
From there however, the loss of regular wickets stemmed the flow of runs, as Dylan Rawal (2), Ajay Khunti (1), Savin Perera (10), Omar Akram (4) and Shareeq Sheikh (9) all perished early as SACA fell to 112 for 7 off 13.5 overs.
Some late order hitting from Hisham Khan (51 off 27) and Walallawita (20 off 9) proved too little too late, as SACA fell some way short in the chase, posting 190 for 9 in reply - going down by 58 runs!

GAME TWO MATCH REPORT
Game two was a much tighter affair, and one that SACA will be kicking themselves for letting slip, as it was one that got away from them!
Batting first, SACA got over the early loss of Reddy and Rawal, both having scored 12, as Khushi (62 off 45) and Daniyal Khan (55 off 29) plundered a third wicket partnership of 90 off less than 8 overs to put their side in a strong position.
Khan again added useful runs, hitting 27 off 13 down the order, as SACA posted a competitive total of 189 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, three wickets for Hamidullah Qadri and one for Khunti stemmed the flow of runs in the Pears reply, and at the end of the twelfth over they were 102 for 4, up against it, needing a further 88 runs off 48 deliveries to get to their victory target!
Enter Jake Libby (59* off 43) and Reehan Edavalath (48* off 23) however, who had other ideas, as the pair put on a match winning partnership of 90 for the fifth wicket to take their side to victory – calmly getting over the line with four balls to spare.
It was a disappointing outcome from a match position in which SACA were hopeful of securing victory in, however those are the tight margins of T20 cricket and Libby and Edavalath batted superbly under pressure to get over the line!
