SACA are delighted to announce that right-arm seamer, Yadvinder Singh, has been signed on a short-term professional contract by Leicestershire County Cricket Club.
Singh, 30, has been training with the Foxes over the winter, with the SACA bowler impressing the Leicestershire coaching staff throughout his time at Grace Road, and he will be available for selection for them across the opening month of the season.
He made his debut for SACA in May 2022, at the very start of SACA’s journey in just the Academy’s second competitive fixture, picking up two wickets against Warwickshire at Edgbaston, and was a consistent and integral component of the SACA pace attack over 2022 and 2023.
In January 2024 he signed professional terms with Worcestershire, on a two-year contract, becoming the eighth SACA graduate to sign for a First-Class County, making his debut for the Pears against Surrey at the Oval in April that year. On debut he returned impressive figures of 4 for 103 against the County Champions, accounting for both Surrey openers, Rory Burns and Dom Sibley, before mopping up the tail with the wickets of Sean Abbott and Dan Worrall.
Despite that impressive debut, that was to be Singh’s only first-class appearance in 2024, which was followed by just one First-Class appearance in 2025 against Essex. He then performed admirably with the ball for Worcestershire’s Second Eleven across the remainder of 2025, helping the Pears reach the final of the Second Eleven Championship – before being released from his contract at New Road in September 2025.

With Singh now signing terms with Leicestershire, he becomes the first SACA player to be re-signed by a First-Class County.
Speaking of Singh securing a short-term contract with Leicestershire, SACA Founder and Managing Director, Tom Brown, commented:
“We are thrilled that Yaddy has another opportunity to make his mark in the professional game and he will have a great chance at Leicestershire to prove that he has what it takes to perform at this level.
“Having agreed with Leicestershire that Yaddy would train with the Foxes squad over the winter, he has already made an impression, with us receiving nothing but positive feedback from Claude Henderson and his coaching team on his progress, and I am delighted that the time he has spent training with the group has led to him being given this opportunity.
“This is nothing less that he deserves, as his approach to training, his attitude, work ethic, professionalism, and the positive influence he has on those around him makes him an absolute delight to work with.
“His opportunities with Worcestershire in 2024 and 2025 were frustratingly limited, however with Leicestershire, he will have the chance to prove his worth with ball-in-hand early in the season, which all being well, will lead to him securing a longer-term deal with the Foxes.
“We wish him every success and know that he will do both himself and all at SACA proud.”
Yadvinder Singh himself added:
“I’m really pleased to be given this opportunity with Leicestershire.
“I’ve enjoyed my time training with the squad and I’m excited to contribute over the first part of the season.”
Alfonso Thomas, Head Coach at Leicestershire CCC said:
“Yadvinder has been with us over the winter and has impressed with both his skill and attitude.
“With a few injuries in our seam group, it’s a good opportunity for him and he adds important depth to the squad at the start of the season.”
