NORTHANTS V SACA – MATCH REPORTS (15 May 2026)

Updated: 3 days ago

MATCH ONE RESULT: NORTHANTS WON BY 85 RUNS

MATCH TWO RESULT: NORTHANTS WON BY 3 WICKETS

MATCH ONE REPORT

SACA returned to white-ball action today with two T20 clashes against Northamptonshire at the Cinch County Ground in Northampton.

The hosts came out on top in game one after SACA skipper Shareeq Sheikh had won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Northants’ opener Gus Miller led the way, plundering a rapid 90 off 48 balls to give his side the perfect start, with knocks of 46 off 26 from David Willey, 38 off 17 from Stuart van der Merwe and 27 off 19 from Aadi Sharma seeing them set a big total of 233 for 3 in their 20 overs.

The three wickets to fall were shared among the SACA bowlers, with Hisham Khan, Mohammed Rizvi and Hamidullah Qadri taking one apiece.

In reply, SACA lost wickets regularly throughout the chase, which stifled any meaningful charge towards the big target, with Aum Patel’s 44 off 32 the standout innings.

Support came from Savin Perera, with 31 off 20, and Hisham Khan, 25 off 10, although the lack of meaningful partnerships cost SACA dearly, as they were dismissed for 148 in 16.2 overs, suffering a defeat by the margin of 85 runs.

MATCH TWO REPORT

Game two saw SACA batting first and setting the target, although, much like the first game, significant partnerships were hard to come by, with several batters making starts and not being able to convert.

A top scoring knock of 39 from Daniyal Khan, off 20 balls, 32 off 21 from Ayaan Malik, 22 off 21 from Rizvi and 20 from 10 from Ajay Khunti were the main contributions as SACA posted a total of 174, bowled out with just one ball of the innings to go.

In reply, early Northants wickets gave SACA the momentum in the powerplay, with the hosts struggling on 32 for 4 in the sixth over of their reply, before the experience and power of Chris Lynn got the Steelbacks back on track.

A fine knock of 61 off 41 from Lynn salvaged the hosts’ innings, with support coming from Rob Keogh with 33 from 29, although SACA looked favourites heading into the closing stages of the chase with the Northants' run rate climbing.

Needing 23 to win off the final over of their innings, Adam Fox stepped up, and despatched two maximums and two boundaries, plus the required extra three runs to take his side to victory, getting to the target seven wickets down to earn the hosts a three wicket win.

Pick of the bowlers for SACA was Ayaan Malik, finishing with figures of 2 for 14 from 2 overs.
