Former Worcestershire CCC, Lancashire CCC, Hampshire CCC & England cricketer Kabir Ali is set to become the Director of Cricket at SACA.
Kabir Ali made his first-class debut for Worcestershire CCC in 1999, the start of a fantastic career which saw his amass a phenomenal 500 first-class wickets, including 23 five-wicket hauls and 4 10 wicket match returns!
Kabir made his One Day International debut in 2003, followed shortly by his test debut where he took 5 wickets in the match. Despite this success, it was to be Kabir's solitary Test appearance, although he made a number of further appearances at ODI level. His greatest success came against South Africa in 2004/05, when he took more wickets (13) than any other England bowler.
As well as representing Worcestershire CCC, Kabir then went on to play for Rajasthan in the Ranji trophy in 2006-7, Hampshire CCC in 2009-12, Barisal Burners of the Bangladesh Premier League in 2012, followed by finishing his career with Lancashire CCC in 2012-14.
Kabir has enjoyed a successful coaching career to date also, with his own cricket coaching company 'Kabir Ali 500', as well as more recently becoming Head Coach of Columbo Kings in the LPLT20 in 2020 and Bowling Coach of the Chattogram Challengers in the BPL 2021.
In response to his appointment with SACA, Kabir said:
'I am really pleased to have been appointed as Director of Cricket at SACA. I believe I can make a real difference to the lads we will have on the programme and am really excited about being part of a cricket programme which will pioneer new methods of training and creating a performance environment. I can't wait to hit the ground running and start working with the players.'
