SACA WOMEN ENJOY SUCCESSFUL MEDIA DAY AS NEW KIT IS UNVEILED

Last week, at Leamington Cricket Club in the midlands, the SACA Women’s squad came together for their inaugural media day.

The day was a huge success, with several players engaging in media interviews with journalists from many of the leading cricket press outlets, with the obligatory squad photos and head and shoulders shots also rolled into the day’s schedule, when the Women’s squad got to wear their new playing strip for the 2026 season for the first time.

With a focussed high-intensity training session also featuring, provided by SACA’s team of elite coaches, including Owais Shah, Gemaal Hussein, Aadil Ali and Adeel Shafique, dedicated sessions on nutrition and psychology, delivered by Take Her Lead Advisory Group members Krushmi Chheda and Dr Jo Kandola respectively, and a mentoring session delivered by former England International Sonia Odedra and Take Her Lead Founder Isa Guha, the squad enjoyed an enjoyable and productive day, as preparations continue to ramp up ahead of the group’s first competitive fixtures as a SACA squad.

The new kit, in a striking black and yellow design, has been created by Lacuna Sports, the revolutionary sports manufacturer that produces playing apparel exclusively for the Women’s game, allowing the SACA Women’s squad to take to the field with confidence and comfort, focussed on performing at their best.

Speaking of a successful Women’s media day, SACA Founder and MD, Tom Brown, commented:

“With the programme now three months in, we’ve been able to get the squad together as a group on a number of occasions previously alongside the 1-2-1 coaching they’ve been receiving, and today was another opportunity for them to come together, bond as a group, receive dedicated coaching from our elite coaches, and become educated on some essential elements of being a professional athlete.

“I’d like to thank those members of the press who took the time to interview our players and representatives to discuss the progress of the programme thus far, and we couldn’t be happier with how it’s all come together and continues to evolve.

“To be able to give the girls their new SACA playing strips for the season was a special moment, and it’s great to see them embrace the SACA brand and ethos with such enthusiasm and passion.

"Our thanks go to our kit partners at Lacuna, who we’ve worked with on the new design of the playing strips, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. We can’t wait to see the girls out there on the park representing SACA.”

Isa Guha, Founder of Take Her Lead, added:

"It was fantastic to meet the girls in person, watch them train and spend time sharing our experiences. Having members of the THL Advisory Group involved on the day added real value to the opportunities available to the players. Krushmi Chheda shared her expertise on nutrition through the lens of South Asian diets, while Dr Jo Kandola led insightful discussions around resilience and self-belief.

“Although it has been many years since Sonia and I played, it was incredibly rewarding to see the girls so engaged and eager to learn about our journeys. We were delighted to share our experiences and offer advice that may help them as they navigate their own paths in the game.

“Seeing the girls together in their new Lacuna Sports kit and witnessing the friendships, confidence and sense of belonging already developing within the group was truly heart-warming. The programme is creating a supportive environment where these young women can thrive both on and off the field, and we are excited to see what they achieve in the future."
